Self-Care Practices During COVID 19

People often think of spa days, treating yourself to a favorite sweet, or making a purchase at your favorite store as ways to take care of yourself. Yes, they are examples of making yourself feel good and self-care, but during this time of staying at home, self-care has to be more than getting a manicure or eating your favorite treat. Below are different ways to practice self-care while we are staying home, taking care of your WHOLE self.


Physical

  • Meditation

  • Exercise (don't be afraid to think outside of the box)

  • Healthy diet

  • Consistent meals

  • Staying hydrated

  • Maintaining personal hygiene

  • Keeping a consistent sleep schedule


Emotional

  • Talking with someone you care about

  • Setting and keeping boundaries

  • Monitoring screen time & news exposure

  • Journaling

  • Practicing gratitude and self-compassion

  • Doing something that makes you happy

  • Rest! (it's okay to not want to do anything)


Intellectual/Cognitive/Mental

  • Keeping a routine/schedule that works for you

  • Work or school

  • Reading for pleasure

  • Practicing a new skill

  • Alone time

  • Getting outdoors


Social

  • Talking with friends on a regular basis

  • Family time
